Smoothen reformed face fracture - emmasla - 04-22-2022

Hi there,

I'm working on an animation where the shape's polygons are pushed out and then reform back to the original shape.
As you can see in the images attached, the surface of the original shape (the tube) also displays the shape of the polygons.

I have tried to add a smooth operator, but it doesn't do the trick in this case. Is there any way to smooth the tube out?

I used the Face Fracture operator to separate the polygons, was that the wrong operator to use if I wanted to perserve the original smoothness of the tube?

Thank you!
Emma

If you're doing a simple Face Fracture, then just put a tyWeld on the flow to re-weld the seams before they tear apart.

In order for tyWeld to work, make sure you also add a Mesh operator to your flow (render-only off).

Thank you so much! That did the trick
