deleting actors

i am trying to delete actors in my particle system. the system is similar to the car destruction tutorial done by Alan McKay.
i use a voronoy fractured cylinder for particle skinned actor. no problem ... but i want to delete these straw parts with a boundary test(i tried a surface test too).
i tried actor collect and/or actor convert in different ways (i conjunction with delete). nothing seems to do this simple task. at the beginning max crashed a lot of times.

is there a standard way i should do this?

If max is crashing, please submit a bug report.
