Hey Tyson,

I am trying to fracture an object and get it to fall apart but once fractured the geo's normals are messed up and the object looks fractured. I can off course use a cheat in compositing to get the effect I want by rendering the non fractured object and then replace it out with the fractured one but I am curious to know if that is an issue that is being addressed in an upcoming build. It would be extremely helpful!

Not anytime soon, but you can see explicit normal retention is already on the roadmap.
