typreview not showing transparancy / opacity with vray
#1
Hi ,

I have a scene with a vray material with a mid grey vray colour in the opacity channel, so its 50% transparent. Typreview is rendering this as opaque. I have transparency activated in options in both typreview and 3ds max viewport ....the weird thing is it worked previously and now it doesn't. Have updated to latest build but hasn't resolved it. Any ideas?

have also tried with just a standard material set to 10 % opacity and still showing opaque

3ds max 2020, GTX 1080ti , Vray 5

Do your tyPreview settings match your viewport?

If you're previewing from a camera, right click the camera, open its object properties window, then navigate to its user properties and delete everything listed, then re-open tyPreview and preview again. Does that solve the issue?

clearing the user data in the object properties seems to have fixed it! thanks

I was also having issues with the transparency rendering with the graininess you see in the 3ds max viewport with nitrous, but if I switched typreview to "standard" it just rendered simple transparency and no grain.

If you increase the progressive samples in the tyPreview settings, it should help to resolve the grain.
