Arnold GPU rendering crashes (to the desktop) CPU rendering works fine?
#1
Hi!
I made a destruction VFX shot with Tyflow. After texturing the animation with "Mesh" + "Instance Material" and a standard Arnold Material the Arnold GPU rendering crashes ( hole 3ds Max crashes to the desktop) in Active Shade as well as in Production Render mode. Arnold CPU rendering works fine.
GPU = RTX 3090

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

PS: I have noticed that under OpenCL GPU my RTX3090 is listed but I cant chose it under CUDA GPU. Is that a problem?
thx,
Patrick

You'll have to send the minidump/crash report to the Arnold devs. They handle the tyFlow Arnold rendering implementation.

thx for your reply!
But in theory (workflow) I did nothing wrong with "mesh" + "instance Material" to render the animation? or is there a other better way to do it?

Another thing i have noticed is, that under GPU --> OpenCL GPU my RTX 3090 is listed but not under CUDA GPU ...is that normal?

regards,
Patrick

For instance material you need to render as instances (set in the Mesh operator)

As for OpenCL, please make sure you have your latest drivers installed, and you've followed all the instructions listed here:
