looking for advection tutorial

I'm looking for some instruction to recreate this advection technique in the TyFlow gallery:

I have the basic particle movement down but need some help connecting the scale to velocity. Not really sure how to do that.

Those particles are advected with a fluid grid (simulated using PhoenixFD). tyFlow's Fluid Force operator does the work.
