Max crash with rand offset animated vrmesh Shape node settings

Easy to reproduce; create a Birth node with Display node and add a Shape node.
Set Shape node to an animated .vrmesh file (a single sphere with 100 frames of empty animation works), check the animated geometry box, set start and end frame # to 0 and 100 respectively.
As soon as I enter a non-zero value into the Rand Offset box, Max crashes.

Additional info; it appears any rand offset value less than or equal to 5 will cause max to crash, regardless of start/end frame settings.
