why is cuda showing disabled in physx settings rollout?

Last time I experimented with it, NVidia's CUDA implementation was fast but unstable, and I experienced continual crashes using it.
If it's more stable in the future, I will re-enable it. But it's not greyed out due to anything wrong with your machine....it's disabled for everyone
