tyMultiFracture Paint Mode Bug - rjanders0003 - 05-03-2024

I think there is a bug with the PAINT MODE and the canvas position. (the Modifier)

I took a brick wall, painted strokes, canvas positioned perfect. I then broke that section out into separate element to work on. Went back in and put the modifier on again to draw a new stroke on the smaller segment. The canvas was offset from the object. There doesn't seem to be any way to move the canvas gizmo. I tried moving the object I was working on, but the canvas moved relative to it.

Not entirely sure what you’re trying to describe, but strokes are saved relative to the object, not the world.

Lets say I make 50 individual bricks eg: a small wall

Then I attach them all to one object.

The I use multifracture modifier, and carve out a section using the paint mode. Then I split those two sections into their own objects.  So far so good.

The I hide the larger portion of the wall.  I have now a new poly object, the smaller wall section carved out.  I go in and add a new Multifracture modifier to that smaller section, now the paint canvas is not centered on that new object, its offset, left or right. In this instance its just close enough I can break the smaller section into two new poly objects.  Then I go back and try to fracture that into an even smaller section. Now the paint canvas is offset enough you cannot paint strokes and fracture it further.

I can use the other modes ok, they center ok. But the paint mode cannot be used because of this canvas to object offset.

The problem is I can no longer paint strokes to create further sub division cracks, because the canvas is not behind the object I want to manually fracture.

I was going to send you a screen grab, but now it works.  But it happened 5 times even after resetting max and restarting it.  I just settled for not making smaller sections.

So what do I say now.

I was able to repeat the issue and control when it happens.

I was grouping the mortar and bricks in one group then fracturing with paint.  For material id assignment, but cracks in same place.

When grouping is when the canvas offset happens, eventually.

if I un-group and just paint fractures on each obj, the canvas is always centered.

Image attached is grouped bricks and mortar section.

Hmm interesting….if you can send me the file when it’s not working, I can take a closer look and get it fixed.
