Scaling leaves along a rope - Fabrice - 07-24-2024

Hi all,
simple problem I guess but cant figure it out.

I grow leaves from to to bottom along a rope.
So I animated a scale that makes every new-born leave grow from 0 to 100% its size.
But I'd like the leaves to be bigger at the top of the rope and much smaller at the bottom
in order to have a pointy look at the end.

I know I need to use another animated scale in order to multiply the first leaves by 200% and the last leaves by 10%.
But should I do that in a new event?

What should be the "timmingInterval", "KeyframeSyncMode and "scale mode" setup please?

I would suggest first setting up your leaves the way you want their final scale to look...you can use a Scale operator with proximity scale enabled, then place an object at the top of your rope and set the proximity thresholds such that leaves are scaled down the further they get away from it, to the desired size.

Then use a Custom Properties operator to save that desired scale to a custom vector channel. Then scale your leaves to 0. Then use another Custom Properties operator to scale them back up to the saved scale over time (timing = continuous, interpolation < 1).

Thanks, I'm trying to master the custom propertiers...a bit scary to me, no result for the moment...
