link to mesh with skin modfier & keep pivot free for rotation? - joe_coke - 07-24-2024

Hi,

I'm trying attach a plane (pivot at the top) to the arm of a biped driven mesh with a skin modifer. I'm at this stage now.

what i can't work out is how to get the plane to rotate freely ( & inherit the velocity from the mesh). Ideally i would want the plane to be a physx object to colllide it with stuff.

I guess i'm after an object that is hanging from a hook, but without a hook.

cheers for any ideas.

*also the performance with the skin mesh is terrible, just will not cache etc......until i select the mesh & have the modifier panel showing. Then its super smooth.

Can you post a file or screenshot?

I've just now figured this out.

but the performance issue with the skinned biped remains.  So it runs bad and caches only the frame its working on unless i have the skin modifier showing in the modifier panel.

So the performance issues i was experiencing seem to be fixed by adding an "edit mesh" modifier on top of skin.
