cloth binded to animated objects - joe_coke - 08-03-2024

I have a keyframed animating object & want to attach cloth to it.

I make my cloth object (plane with bend modifier) move it into position so the top part is close to the object and it bends away.

Cloth bind, then do a surface test to the object into another event with an object bind operator. I then add a velocity mag test so when the object animates at a certain speed, the cloth detaches. This goes into another event with a cloth collect and some gravity/turbulence forces.

it works except i get a vertex explosion and the cloth turns to a mess, probably because of collisions.  I solved this by adding a particle switch to deactivate the attached cloth but that cancels out my velocity test.

my problem is when they enter the final event with the cloth collect they are half in half out of the colliding object. I'm at maximum sub frame time step (1/32) but it still gets caught inside objects and dragged around.

Is my only option to increase fps (in my max scene)? and will that mess up my forces?

It's impossible to deduce causes/solutions to a problem like this from a description alone.
