Element Fracture - rjanders0003 - 09-20-2024

G'Day Tyson

On the element fracture operator, say I create a 5x5 array of cubes and one large rectangle box and all are elements of a poly model.

It say in help, that if you set - reset age of remaining particles, the age will be reset if they remain behind.

I used display data operator to show age and I don't see any change in age on particles left behind - Gray is left behind in example image.

Regards
Rob

Hi Rob,

That just resets the age of remaining particles - but since you fracture 100% of their elements out, there are no remaining particles. Unless I'm misunderstanding the issue?

The Gray Particles - 1 long box and couple small ones are remaining particles, hence in event 1 still. But they have the exact age as the yellow ones that were sent out.

I did several different tests, and the age was always the same on all particles.

On the 100% - I am in intersect mode - but I tried remaining in all modes and age remains same in all tests.

You'll have to post the file.

If fracturing % is 100, then all particles will be sent unless the mesh has only 1 element, at which point no changes will occur including age reset. So either those gray particles had only 1 element, so the operator will not have affected them at all, or something else is going on.
