TyShell? - SteveDeeGreen - 10-01-2024 Hi, I've been doing a bit of modelling using shell recently - I noticed one thing that shell (or Shell Pro) doesn't have is the option to map anything - I was making a shoulder pad and it would have been nice to have the segments get thicker in certain parts by mapping a gradient to the source mesh Similar to displace but for shell? Not sure if that's something that would be possible/falls under TyFlow functions? Thanks, Steve RE: TyShell? - tyFlow - 10-03-2024 You mean a texmap that drives the thickness value? I have an internal shell function I use throughout tyFlow that I recently augmented with that ability for the multifracture modifier/operator - certain fracture modes allow you to vary the cutting mesh shell thickness with noise. However, there's no dedicated modifier for that and it's purely an internal function. Perhaps one day I'll add a tyShell modifier - it's just that Max's shell works pretty well and it would feel somewhat redundant (obviously the thickness-variation option would set it apart, but at the moment it doesn't feel like enough of a feature to justify releasing a competing/redundant modifier...). Seems like it might be more prudent just to ask the Autodesk devs to add that to their built-in mod. RE: TyShell? - SteveDeeGreen - 10-07-2024 Cheers, I might see if Marius Silaghi thinks it might work for Shell Pro I'm still on Max 2022, so hanging on to that for as long as possible |
