Visualizing particle bindings won't work until I change the distance mult. in scale diameter (proximity bind).
When I do they appear all of a sudden, as expected.

I think that's just a viewport refresh issue. Changing the time slider +/- a frame should refresh the view, instead of having to change a setting.
I will still make a note to take a look and force an update.

Actually, I tested here and the bindings appear immediately, as expected. So it seems like you're experiencing a separate issue.
If you can send the scene file to support@tyflow.com, I can check it out.
