TySpline Mesher modifier missing
#1
Hi, ive been having this issue since the beginning of tyflow. Once in a while ,completely at random, TySpline Mesher is missing from the modifier list.
When i create a new Tyflow with Spline Path, create new TySpline it comes with spline mesher by default.  If i delete the TyMesher from TySPline it does show up on the modifier list.  But once i cache it, i am unable to add or even copy TySpline mesher to the newly created TyCache.

Feels like this is a Max issue, but obviously autodesk will know nothing about tyflow.

Any idea how to bring it back ?

Does your tyCache object have a tySplineCache modifier on it, converting the cache data to splines? If not, then it's not yet a spline object and you won't be able to add spline-based modifiers to it (or even see them in the list). Just the way Max works - nothing I can do about it.

Hi, sorry. Yes , it had tySplineCache. I also tried creating brand new TyCache. Adding tySplineCache, so all that manually. No luck.
Im using tysplines today as well. and so far so good. no issues.
This is just some weird bug , most likely from 3ds max, but it is difficult to recreate, its too random. Most of the time it works fine, but one time out of 10 it wont and then i struggle to get it working. Usually if i randomly click things, reopen max, restart pc, etc . something will work and i will see that modifier. But thats not ideal. I will try to update you on the problem next time it happens. ill try to remember the steps before , what could possibly trigger it, and If ill get it working , what i did to make that happen.
Not sure what else to say, and i understand it is not something you will be able to fix with such limited information, but i was just hopping it might have had happened before and you know the fix.

Ok, so ive managed to break it again. Didn't had to wait long.

As you can see, TySplineCache is there. SplineMeshser is missing. Despite it existing on the TySpline object.

So what i did this time:
When Ive cached out the sim the first time, tyCache_SPLINES object was created. At that time i could still add SplineMesher ( or copy from the tySpline obj)
Then i had to make some changes to the sim and of course re-cache it. New Cache obj  was created. but it wasnt in the right place and even if i reloaded the files.
So i re-cached it once again. This time it created a new cache obj in the right place, it came with TySplineCache mod. But at this point i was not able to add SplineMeshser mod. It simply disappeared from the list.

Ill updated if ill managed to get it to work with somehow.

Edit:
And it magically appeared back on the list...
All i did was switching between State Sets and hiding and unhanding correct objects for each state set. Oh and i applied material to the new tyCacheSPLINES. Maybe that triggers the modifier ?

Hmm yea I don't really have an explanation for that, and I have no control over how 3ds Max display its modifiers in the modifier list. If you've found a way to perfectly repeat the problem, I'd suggest logging it as an issue with Autodesk.
