Hi, i'm also a bit confused with group cause i do not have a lot of experience with them, but if you assign the group as " insertmesh " said it is working.
If i understand what you are looking for.
In the last scene you upload i quite do not understand what you have done, i've got double sphere shooting from 2 event.

I'm not sure, ( tyson can confirm ) but to me seams that if it is disable particles react with all particles without caring about group . To me seams like " interact with all " if disabled.
Thanks to all cause now i think i've got a much clear understanding about groups.
I forogot to deactivate the particles group in the event_003 now it makes grow the active particles. Without it i thinks is what you was looking for.
