That's a pretty bizarre issue...the Particle Physics operator is one of the most commonly used operators, and you're the only one who has reported this problem....so it sounds hardware related (ie, something going on with your machine setup). That's what the blue screen would point to as well. There's not really anything in the tyFlow codebase that could cause a blue screen to occur, if things like GPU drivers are up to date.
Are you running Max in a VM? Or do you have any tools running on the machine that could be interfering with tyFlow as it runs (for ex: a really invasive anti-virus tool which could be interfering with tyFlow's DRM)?
Some things you can try:
1) If you're unable to save the file because Max freezes as soon as you create the operators which cause the freeze, first deactivate the tyFlow object before adding the operators (so nothing gets simulated). Then add them and save the file and upload it here. Then I can at least see the file itself.
2) Double check that all your GPU drivers are really up to date.
3) Create a file called c:\noOpenCL.tyf. It can be empty. If that file exists on your computer, tyFlow will not use OpenCL (GPU) acceleration in any capacity. Load max and see if it still freezes...if it doesn't, then at least you know the problem is GPU related.
4) If Max is frozen but the rest of your computer is still responsive, you can open the task manager and right click on the 3dsmax.exe process and select the option to generate a dump file. This file will be pretty huge (several gigabytes), but if you compress it and send it my way using something like WeTransfer, it should give me a clue as to where things are freezing.
5) Check to make sure OpenCL.dll is not present in your 3ds Max root directory. If it is, temporarily remove it and try again.
There haven't been any changes made to the way the Particle Physics operator works with groups in a long time, so I don't see how that could be related. And like I said...many, many people have been using that operator without issue even in the latest builds...so this problem seems very specific to how you have your machine configured somehow....
