UVW Gradient using maps instead of color?

Hello,

I know how I can apply "color by age" with a gradient.

But if I want not only a simple gradient (which means only one color and not an image from a UV map, how can I achieve this?

Thoughts:
Maybe with an image sequence instead of a gradient, and the mapping operator is defining the "frame by age" for the UV?

Or driving a blending between a UVmap and a gradient?
