Scales on a snake howto

Hi all

I'd like to ditribute scales (a bent plane) along a snake body (a circle extruded along a spline).

But I cant find the right configurataion of the rotation node in order to get the scales to follow the body in a proper way.

Anyone has the solution of this enigma?
