Not sure what you exactly mean... 
But you can change in proximity bind distance to "absolute", then type in the value of cm whatever you want (for example 500cm) 
Then in the bind braking you can set value for stretch to 0% 

That means that connections will be established for 500 and less cm, and broken from 500 and more cm. 
If you set stretch to 100%, the connection will be established at 500 cm, and broken at 1000 cm. 
You can then just tweak both parameters until you get what you're after. 

At least,. that's how I understand it.
