trying to export to mesh?

First off you created an awesome tool!!

I'm also trying to export to mesh, but am unable to get anything. I only get this message:

"no particles to export..."

(and something about frames and groups)

Can anyone please explain which steps I need to take? (Do I need VRay in order to achieve this?)
