Physx Sleep
#1
I understand from searching the forums that Sleep has been disabled in recent versions.

Is it possible to bypass this via maxscript?

I have a scene with many particles that need to settle and sleep before the main particle event occurs.

Without the ability to put them to sleep, they jitter around, even with very high substep and time step settings.

I've had some luck adjusting Collision Tolerance settings but it's not perfect.

A workaround could be to convert to kinematic using a PhysX Switch and then back to dynamic when you need them to be activated.

I've tried that and for some reason the particles still roll around when set to Kinematic. I've set Timing to Frame with a delay to give the particles time to drop to the ground.

Particles are not automatically stopped when switched to Kinematic. You have to manually stop them, usually with a Stop operator.

Your workaround works. Thanks !
