"Weak points" from texture? (i.e. wood splinters, tiles)

Hi yall, I'm new to tyflow. 

Is there a way to use textures like height/alpha map to dictate the shapes of the fractures? i.e. splinters along wood grain or preserving tile shapes like in the image below (red lines)

You can use the tyCarve modifier to draw fractures manually in whatever shape you like.
