Time configuration changes crashes 3dsmax
#1
Hi Tyson,
changing from NTFS to Pal in the time configuration crashes 3dsmax 2018 immediately.
Just scrubb to another frame than 0 in the Timeline open the time configuration and click on PAL. Scene attached!

Cheers!

Yikes that's not good. Logged and hopefully will be fixed in the next build. Thanks!

Fixed in the next build. Note: max seems to have a bug, where when the time units are changed, all reference nodes send a change notification up the stack....so you may notice that when you change the timecode the simulation resets like 10 times in a row. Hitting ESC during this process will prevent the continual resims and restore the viewport, then once the time configuration dialog closes you can resume working as normal.

Hello,
While I dont get a crash, something is still fishy with Time Configuration.
Trying to change Frame Rate from PAL to Custom seems to freeze 3dsmax for quite a while (something like 45 seconds in my example, but it does not crash)
I dont think its isolated to custom to PAL , but happens when you try to switch between those presets. I took a look at CPU utilizization while max was frozen an it seems to use all CPUs but not at 100% but maybe 20-25% per core,
(max 2020 + most current TyFlow version to date)

When the framerate in a scene is changed, max sends reset notifications to all objects. Unfortunately the reset notifications have no tags that differentiate them from any other proper reset notification, so I have no way of filtering these particular ones out. So the delay is likely your sim re-calculating. Just hold ESC to cancel the resim, or alternatively wait for the sim to calculate in order to continue.

I noticed that if you hide the TFlow icon / sim and then open the Framerate controls, it will work as normal.
But the when you unhide and depending on if you changed values, max will recaclulate the sim, but I feel this is much faster than getting stuck in the Framerate Dialogue (where any extra click will also be done in order etc..)
So basically , turn off TyFlow icon before goinf into the framerate dialogue should work fine..

Hi!

TyFlow continues freezing, If I change Start Time in Time Configuration Panel to 1 and more (not zero). At the same time 3ds Max is working . If I want to close 3ds Max, it request saving file.
This problem appears only in 3ds Max 2018. In 3ds Max 2016 everything is alright.
If I save the file in 3ds Max 2016 and open it in 3ds Max 2018, it works without bugs for some time.
