Not sure what is going on but here is the file.
in theory I'm just scattering a bunch of points... but sometimes when I cross some treshold of particles it will crash.
The thing is that some of the source objects won't crash even if using 300k particles, but this octupus will crash on 280k
Maybe I'm doing something wrong here, I'll try to simplify even more the scene and see if it still crashes.
This was happening also in v11
