I have scene where creating splines on particle bindings. The scene is quite heavy. In tySplines modifier clicked "Auto smooth", 3D max basically freezes and I can see how my PC computing heavily on a single core. It takes very long. And after finishing if I accidentaly click on second frame, long compute starts over..
I guess its native 3D max auto smooth implementation, but if it's so slow I would suggest to take it out
