This might be a Max issue but in 2024 latest update the Tycache with a turbosmooth on top gets stuck.
Opensubdivis works as expected but not Turbosmooth.

If you're having issues with Turbosmooth I'd suggest sending a bug report to Autodesk. I don't have access to the Turbosmooth code so I have no way of determining why it is/isn't working.
