Birth Paint Operator

Not sure if bug or not, but this is happening to me

tf1.16 and tf1.17 tested on both max 2023 and 2024

on 2023 particles are generated on surface when using birth paint op.

on 2024 particles appear to be generated (ie: as I move my brush, I see them), I hear my fans working as if particles are being generated, but let go of mouse and no resulting particles remain and particle count is 0.

Hi Rob,

I tried to repro this but am unable to. Here's what I did:

1) Open Max.
2) Create a sphere
3) Create a tyFlow
4) Add Birth Paint to the flow
5) Click the sphere
6) Click "paint" in Birth Paint and draw some particles on the sphere.

The particles appear while drawing and are added to the flow correctly when I release my mouse.

If you reproduce those exact steps do you still get the issue of no particles?

I worked out how it happens

If you have setting 'Birth particles at specified time" set as the option and say you have start parameter set to 10.

Then if you draw and time slider is set to zero, the particles draw and disappear at completion and particle count shows 0 at any frame below 10.

So, its probably doing what its supposed to do, I just didnt realize I had messed with those two settings (birth particles at frame xx and set a frame)
