Render error - Shape reference node
#1
Hey guys,

I am trying to use different objects as reference node/shape in tyflow.
It works OK, but at render, there are obvious errors.
Look at the pic I attached.
The green bottle in the middle is the reference node, and the bottles in a ring are tyflow objects.
You can see, the lights and shadows are not accurate at all.

Any idea or solution?

I am using
tyflow v1.116
Vray 6 update 2.1
3dsMax 2025

Thanks a lot!

Please post or send the Max file. Impossible to guess without seeing it.

Seems like a weird issue with the geometry's normals...I'll look further into it.

In the meantime you can uncheck "preserve normals" for every entry in the Shape operator as a workaround...

Interestingly, unchecking Preserve Normals did help, but only like with half of the particles. 50% looks good now, 50% looks the same.
...
Just now, I tryed to refresh on the main Tyflow window and now 100% looks good. THANKS! That was the issue. Problem solved.

Hey, just a quick question.
I know this thread us about bugs/issues, but I was wondering, is there an easy way to distribute these shapes in a simple order. Like I have 16 objects/particles and I want all four reference object to be in the ring 4 times in order like blue/yellow/pink/green, and then the same order again. Instead of random.

See the pictures attached. Thanks for your help big time!

This "Miscellaneous" rollout of the Shape operator has more options to precisely control distribution.
