Render error - flickering lights/shadows on particles
#1
Hey guys
I have an issue with my render. There is some ugly flickering lights/shadows on my particles.
See the attached video clip.
I checked, it is not Vray issue. I placed a simple box in the scene with the same shader, and it had no issues.
So my guess it is tyflow.

I am using
tyflow v1.116
Vray 6 update 2.1
3dsMax 2025

Any suggestions or tips?

Thanks a lot!

I can't see how this would be a tyFlow issue. Flickering is a common rendering problem and just putting a box in the same scene isn't going to be able to reproduce it. Your flickering surfaces are curved and moving and that can affect how glossy reflections, AI, etc are calculated.

You can bake your tyFlow geometry to objects using an Export Particles operator and then remove your tyFlow object to ensure tyFlow is not the cause.

I was going to do that. I started to bake the particles to see if that makes a different. And then I realized there were 30 particles in each ring, instead of 15. For whatever reason I set 30 as particle count. That made an overlapping object behind each objects. That was the reason of the flickering.

OMG. Totally my fault.  Sad
Did a quick render, and flickering is gone.

Thanks for your help!
