Export collision data
#1
Hi.

Is it possible to export a data/text file from a simulation. I'm specifically after which frames a collision occurred.

With that file I'm hoping to use it in post-production (premiere pro or after effects) to help me more easily identify where I should be adding sound effects.

Thanks
Andy

There's no built-in way...you'd have to use the Script operator for something like that and code it out.

Thank you for your reply. I'll check that operator out and hopefully one of my technical developers should be able to script something for it.

Cheers,
Andy

Yeah, you should be able to export that info, but it depends on the software. I’ve done it before with a physics simulation in Blender—just had to go into the settings and export the collision data as a CSV. If your program has similar options, you can get a file with the frame numbers for each collision. It’s a big help when adding sound effects in Premiere Pro.
