Tycache

Hello, loving to be able to play around with this.

Anyway I sent a job to the farm via the export particles and it works as expected.

Once loading the cache back in via TyCache I believe it does not treat the cache as vray instances (even though the option is ticked) as it takes a very long time to compute the light cache etc and about 6 mins to render. Compared to just rendering the same frame directly from Tyflow (no cache loading etc) at about 2 minutes.

Thanks!

Hmm that's very odd...I checked the code and don't see anything that stands out as a cause.

Could you 100% confirm the issue by putting a bend modifier or something on your tyCache and hitting render?? If the modifier affects the geometry, it's not rendering as instances. If it doesn't affect the geometry...the issue may be something else...

The bend modifier made the mesh vanish. Weirdly it appears to be rendering as expected now, not done anything different. Must just be me! Sorry!

Out of interest, your sand man test on Instagram says 8 million particles, how much memory did that take? Also I cant find it in the documents but anyway to view particle counts.

Thanks

Ah yes I forgot...making it vanish will cause it to disappear if it's in instancing mode.

Glad it's back to normal....if it happens repeatedly let me know!

Memory on sandman was pretty high I think...maybe around 50Gigs? It's because of the huge number of constraints (several hundred million) that had to persist each frame.

Particle count is printed in the listener. Eventually I plan on having it displayed in the editor.
