Create an object,
add a tyCache modifier with external files saving.
save the cache.
Create a reference or an instance of your object.
Close the file. Reopen the file: You'll get a message that the tyCache files are missing. Actually, the connection is cut right when you create your reference or instance, it's just not displayed in the modifer yet. Try to reload the cache, and the status will be updated to missing. Might also cause crashes on file open for heavier objects (I currently have a pattern where a file opens fine the first time in a Max session and causes crashes the second time. Could be also something else, but when I delete the reference, the crashing stops).
