TY flow 3Ds max. HOW TO...?

Thumbs Up
Hi everyone.

First post, long time user.
This should be a simple one. I'm looking for the best way to complete my thinking in the attatched flow.

I'm making floating rising lantern and hanging fabric to float in the wind under them.
Currently the flow allows this for 1 lantern. How would I turn this flow in to 100s of particles all keeping the cloth sim effect.
I'm guessing I need to pass the lanterns flow to something else?

The next steps is the replicate this for other lantern shapes.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Kevin

You can use actors to instantiate a skin or rig setup over particles...then isolate the particles you want to treat as cloth and convert them to cloth as you normally would.

See attached for an example setup.

Hi

Now that is blooming awesome. Thanks for taking the time to do that.
I will work on that version to get the cloth real time simmed together.

I did have a workaround midway (not as good as that). I simmed 300frames as a vraymesh/alembic then loaded it back in a proxy to another flow effectively caching everything. (attatched)

I will try and let you know how trying your way works. Great feedback and thanks for a quick reply.

Kevin.

Hi again.
I had added my own actors by replacing your cylinder but I cant get the main lantern top to render? My poly ID are set up for a multi sub texture but the lantern top doesnts appear in render. See attached.
Could you guide me on how to get it rendering with the multi/sub tex?

Thanks in advance.
