I don't know if it's possible, but I would try pin/lock (preserve) both end of cloth object, and that would create a very hi pressure. 
After torus animatoin finished, convert it to classic rigid body, and watch what happens next Smile

I also wanted to do it, Smile
But I did not know how to do it. Huh


So, I used MassFX to simulate falling movements in advance.
Naturally, the torus is not affected by the movement of the cloth.
