Continue tycache after stopping
#1
Is it possible to continue the export from any point in the animation.
With Phoenix FD you can pickup the sim on every 15th frame (standard) and continue from there.

I have a simulation of 1500 frame and while exporting the cache max crashed on frame 1100.
After changing the cache settings I wanted to continue the export, but it starts from 0 again.

Anyone suggestions or is it just impossible?

thnx

Nope, not possible.

PhoenixFD's method is not comparable because all it has to do is restore a grid state. tyFlow's intermediate states are orders of magnitude more complex and arbitrarily restoring them is not feasible.

If you experienced a crash, submit a bug report:

Thanks for your fast reply.

The crash is probably caused by memory shortage. I was working fine after switching off the caching.
It just takes all night to get to the point where it crashed, so was hoping this could be a solution.

Ah ok, that makes sense. Especially after 1100 frames of export....

Eventually in the future I may try to make exporting a bit more forgiving in terms of RAM usage, perhaps auto-disabling caching if RAM peaks past a certain % of available memory. Currently I don't do any RAM monitoring.
