PhysX and TySlicer not slicing - postreal - 08-17-2021

Hi,
I might get this totally wrong but seems that I can´t use TySlice correctly with PhysX particles? I have a sphere object as a source for BirthVoxels operator. A bunch of particles (PhysX spheres binded together) then fall down and same time TySlicer animates through this ball. I got this working nicely with ParticlePhysics, but no luck with PhysX particles. Screenhot and a scene attached. Any help appreciated!  Cool

Thanks for the file...your setup seems correct so this does look like a bug. Strange because I recently tested PhysX slicing and didn't have an issue. I'll look further into it, and if it's a bug, get it fixed for the next build.

Btw in your screenshot I noticed the little grid icons (top right) are not scaled properly, which is odd. What's your monitor size and/or are you using any windows scaling settings? I'd like to see if I can fix that...

Oh, nevermind...it's not a bug. Your PhysX Break operator timing is not set correctly. You have it set to "On Event Entry (interval)", which specifies a frame range in which particles must be new in the event for them to be activated...but all the particles are new on frame 0 so none of them are affected by the slicer (because they only activate on frame 0 according to the timing you set).

Set timing to continuous and they will be affected. Also, for slicing, it's best to do quick cuts rather than cuts that last over multiple frames, in order to ensure that all binds are sliced along the same plane. It's a bit tricky to explain why and I hope to improve this in future builds. But for now just adjust your keys so the slice happens faster.

Attached is a modified scene file for you to look at.

Two monitors both UHD 3840 * 2160, not sure if I have windows scaling applied, have to check it tomorrow.

Thank you so much, seemed to work!  Angel   Im totally ok with fast slices on this. Is it possible to upres this normally? I need to have a huge amount of particles to VBD it correctly, this was just a test scene but Im going to slice a lot more complicated object.

Again thank you for your time!
