Shapes with animation are very slow. - tomoya kimpara - 06-18-2025

Alembic files imported from other software have been rearranged and replaced with a single mesh file that animates in point cache.

There is no problem when the number of particles is 1, but as soon as I change it to 2, it takes a tremendous amount of time.

Why?

I understand that the original mesh is not a light mesh, but I suspect a bug level to take this long.

I will send you the file so you can take a look.
I will also enclose a file of the point cache.
I would like you to try assigning it to an object called [mesh] and see what happens.

Please let me know if I am wrong in my approach.
Thank you in advance.

I don't understand what the issue is supposed to be. Adding 2+ particles doesn't take any more time than expected.

I am not sure if it matters at all, but I've tried this scene in Max 2024 and TyFlow 27 (so, one previous version), and the shape operator didn't worked in animation mode at all.
I quickly disabled shape mesh, added another one, added object, and this time animation was greyed out lol (not selectable).

Maybe something is weird with object itself... I have no idea

In my experience... yes.. for sure the animated meshes are slower then just straight meshes, but it's to be expected... but I never noticed huge or unnatural slowdown if I change particle number, for example, from 100 to 200.

It’s because he has animation set to display in render only.

Ahhh.. right.. I miss that. Smile

So everything works fine here...
I type 1000 particles, and in 3 seconds it finished 300 frames of animated meshes, on my 14900 Intel
When I play it, it's almost realtime.

Again, I tried to disable his shape operator, and add another one, and animation on the new shape operator is grayed out.
Probably because it's different Tyflow version.

Are you sure?
If so, it may be a difference in environment.

My environment is
CPU : AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5995WX
Memory : 128GB
GPU : RTX A4000

Maybe AMD CPU is the problem.
If you would like, I would like to open this scene and let you know the environment that did not have the problem.

We are definitely experiencing this problem here.
I will send you a video to explain the situation here.

It takes more than 5 minutes to change the number of particles from one to two.
I think I will cut the video in the middle.

Sorry
I opened the same file on another PC in the same environment
no problem.
There seems to be something wrong with my environment.

I will uninstall MAX and try again.

I am sorry for the trouble this has caused.
