v2.010 Max crashes on birthPerFrame property change to Target Distance - Viper - 06-11-2026 I am trying to make particle system birth rate depending on distance to camera. If emitter is far away from camera then birth rate is lower and vise versa. I change birthPerFrame value to Property type and select 'Distance to target'. 3ds Max crashes. Do I make something wrong and this is not how this supposed to be done or just a bug? RE: v2.010 Max crashes on birthPerFrame property change to Target Distance - tyFlow - 06-11-2026 A crash is always a bug, so I'll look into it. However, in this case your desired outcome is not possible - you can't measure a particle property before the particle is born. Perhaps you should try something like a Script controller on the parameter, where you set the value to the distance between your emitter node and the camera. RE: v2.010 Max crashes on birthPerFrame property change to Target Distance - Viper - 06-11-2026 Thanks for explanation. Sure, I can use a script. But I am curious what property 'Distance to target' is for. RE: v2.010 Max crashes on birthPerFrame property change to Target Distance - tyFlow - 06-11-2026 It's the distance between a particle and its target particle.
