super basic question on texturing particles - sdewitt108 - 05-03-2019 Hi all - So I have looked, not exhaustively, but I have looked and can't find the answer. When I create a new preset flow (in this instance simple PhysXtyFlow), I don't seem to be able to get the material applied to my particle reference object onto the particles themselves. My intuition was that I should be able to control this on the "shape" operator in the "instance material override", but not matter what I try there I still get non-textured particles. I tried adding a "mapping" operator and that did not seem to have an effect wither SO - Obviously I am missing something basic but can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for taking a look Sam RE: super basic question on texturing particles - shadowkiller - 05-03-2019 Assign your material to the tyflow object. I am tempted to just say 'Doh!, and move on. And thanks so much for taking the time to asnwer, and of course it worked great! BUT - it seems odd that the other two methods I mentioned would not have over-ridden the non-textured particles IMHO. Thanks again. RE: super basic question on texturing particles - shadowkiller - 05-04-2019 Yeah that one stumped me at first as well. Seems like a bit of a counter intuitive step but oh well, as long as it works. RE: super basic question on texturing particles - tyFlow - 05-06-2019 The material override only works on VRay instances. |
