shape operator doesnt update automatically

hey there,
when a reference or an external geometry is added as shape operator, any changes made to the external geometry does not get updated automatically unless and only pressed preseve normal checkbox in mesh settings.

for e.g. I select cylinder as reference, if I then change the height of cylinder, it doesnot reflect on shape operator unless I pressed preserve normal...I think its a bug or something
