Birth operator + position object Smile

Position Object has an setting to delete invalid verts, so if a particle position can't be found based on your criteria within the operator, it will be deleted.

No point in a dedicated surface birth operator, when I'd just be duplicating a lot of functionality already there, and limiting the amount of control.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your request?

btw how about emitting from a texture map?

Position object has a texture distribution filter as well...you can use it to emit particles on a texture on a surface.
