You know when you turbosmooth, meshsmooth or Tessellate and how it turns each quad into 4 quads? I've been looking for a way to reverse this effect like let's say you have a 200X200 segment map that's 600x600 in size. Let's say you want to lower the segments in open fields where you don't need as many polygons as the rest of your terrain, the only thing that you can do is with the Optimise Modifier but when using this it creates edge patterns that are all wonky in appearance.
So my idea is basically a way to turn 4 quads back into 1 quad. I tried deleting the edges to create this effect but that didn't work
