Mesh Instance not working on Renderfarm vray 7
#1
Hi,

TyFlow is not rendering on renderfarm when it is set to instance. It does render instances locally.

If I add my local machine to the Farm it will also not render instances.

It will render on the farm when set to triangle mesh.

We are using backburner to render jobs.

Max 2025
Versions : Vray7 hotfix 1 - 7.0004
Tyflow : 1.123

Let me know if you need a file; not sure if it would help. Very basic files will also not render instances.

Try loading your scene locally on a farm computer - does it render?

Yep it renders on that machine locally as well, If I then submit the job to backburner from that machine it nog longer renders :E

If I add my own machine in the Farm it also wont render the instance that it renders locally so something seems off about the backburner bit.

That's pretty strange - does max.log report any tyFlow-related issues on the machine?

It can be found in your [AppData]/Local/Autodesk/3dsMax/[Version]/Network folder...

I'll have a look tomorrow and get back to you on that.

Oke so here is a log file of my own machine rendering ( not rendering ) through backburner,  No specific tyflow related errors.

^ here is the log file, it has 2 jobs, the first one with mesh set to instance ( no render ) the second where its set to mesh ( render ) - As far as I can tell they are the same.

Edit : attached test file

Hmm, well I tested your file in Max 2025 and it rendered fine in both workstation mode and network rendering mode.

I guess a couple other things you can try, to debug the issue:

1) In this test scene switch the Mesh operator to mesh instead of instances, then switch the renderer to Scanline. Does it render?

2) See if Backburner has a mode to enable Max UI while rendering (I know Deadline has this option)...this will change the rendering mode from command line mode to regular workstation mode...does it render?

3) Remove tyFlow RENDER from the machine and try again...does it render? (Perhaps you forgot to update tyFlow RENDER on the machine and it's using an older version of tyFlow RENDER that's incompatible with VRay 7)

UGH - well turns out we didn't forget to update the render dlo but we did somehow manage to install the wrong version on all the machines.
Apologies ! Case closed - sorry for wasting your time :/

On a somewhat brighter note; we use tyflow so much now that our workflow completely crashes without it - so good job guys :]
