3dsMax CommandLine for tyCache Export
#1
Hello,
is there someway to export particles (tycache) without blocking the 3dsMax GUI License?

The issue i have is, that id like to hit export (long simulation) on my Office PC and still be abled to use 3DS max in my Homeoffice PC.
If i use my GUI license in the office PC for export, i cant work on a different Scene/Computer because the License is engaged.
However, if max is launched in CommandLine mode (like how it does with network renders), it doesnt engage the GUI License and i can still work on Files while exporting.

Is there someway, that i can launch a tyCache Export without engaging the 3dsMax GUI license?
Thanks in advance

tyCache export has an export with Deadline option, which will not consume a max GUI license, but will still consume a tyFlow license. You'll also need Deadline installed.

I agree, being able to save in the background would save users a lot of time. Recently, I worked on a master setup shot that had all my setups for multiple shots in there and while I was simming a destruction sim, I couldn't sim my zenith sim at the same time because the GUI is blocked. They wouldn't use the same amount or type of resources either.
The work around I had to do was saving my max file before caching in tyFlow, open up another instance of max and load that master file - sim zenith, and then close out to make sure no settings were saved. Then you possibly get issues with mismatching parameters in scenes.

Exporting with "Don't display gui messages" still freezes max unfortunately so there isn't a good way around it.

Studio farm doesn't always have the machines with GPUs that are required for some types of simulations so Deadline isn't always an option.
