follow gradient

I'm having trouble getting particles to follow a gradient over a surface. I'm trying to replicate the PFlow system in the attached data with tyFlow - follow gradient, constant speed, minimal lateral movement.

How do I do it?

It seems like it should be an easy thing to do. Am I missing something obvious?

You're not dampening the velocity at all right now, which is leading to the issues you're seeing. Put a Slow operator above your Surface Force with 100% strength, and increase the gradient ascent force to something like 0.1.
