Keep material IDs through VDB?
#1
Hi,

I've been retopologizing a few CAD models recently and found TyFlow's obj2VDB works pretty well as a nuclear option of cleaning up a mesh.

I have been using Quad Remesher which has a nice option to guide edge loops by material ID - unfortunately VDB destroys IDs as far as I know?

Not sure if having IDs on VDBs would help (or the nature of them being voxels precludes that), but thought it worth a mention

Thanks!

It's not that it precludes that, but you won't really get the nice clear boundaries that you're expecting. You'd probably be able to roughly approximate the result by using a matID tyConform to the original mesh.

Ah, cheers - will give that a go!
