[PRO v1.0121] crash rendering terrain with deadline
#1
Hi,

Thanks for this great update, so many new stuff to play with it's exciting!

I've been testing the terrain since yesterday, and I ran into a crash, while rendering with Deadline.
The simple way to test is with with the "Simple Terrain Flow" > "Peak" (for example) and rendering it with Deadline.

This is [the interesting] part of the Deadline log:

Quote:Error: FailRenderException : 3dsmax: Trapped SEH Exception in LoadFromFile(): Access Violation
Process:  C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2023\3dsmax.exe
Module:  C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2023\HLSLShaderExtension.dll
Date Modified:  11/03/2022
Exception Code:  C0000005
Read Address:  00000000
Instruction:  48 8B 10 48 8B C8 FF 52 10 4C 8B 07 48 8B 0D EA
Call Stack:
9E990000  C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2023\HLSLShaderExtension.dll
  +00008DEB  Exception Offset

- That's the same error for both TyFlow Pro 1.012 and 1.0121
- Same problem with AMD, Intel and GPU / No GPU render nodes

Thanks for your support!
Jo.

Hmm that's a pretty strange error.

Did the machine generate a minidump?

No, it didn't create a minidump
(I follow this to find the dmp : https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3...crash.html)

More information if needed:
3ds-max 2023.3 update
Submitted via RPManager, but same errors using Vexus.

Also, I though it could be a PRO license issue, but I tried rendering (via deadline) on my machine that is currently holding the floating license, but I get the same error.

Thanks

**sorry, I forgot to add that I modified the default Simple Terrain Flow.
I added a "Terrain Mesh" at the end of the stack. I guess that's the way to render it?

By the way, I'm rendering with Vray 6 Hotfix 3.

Thanks

So I think this issue may be related to this issue:

https://forum.tyflow.com/thread-3492.html

I think I know what's causing it and hopefully both will be resolved in v1.013.

Hi,

I had time to test the new v1.013 today, but sadly, the crash still happens with the same error message. I don't have more information about it Undecided

I'll try to run further tests and see what could be the cause.

By the way, I updated to Vray 6 Update 1, still on max 2023

Ok, I did a little more testing now and have been able to reproduce this error, including the same HLSL DLL exception.

New build will likely be posted later today...thanks for your patience.
